It is to me. I'm centuries behind some of the people here. I figure I oughta read up on some science and history, but I don't wanna be studying the wrong thing, you know?

Depends. Science would probably be more immediately useful in daily applications, but of course there's just as much to be learned from history as well. [ the bigger picture... ]

Where would you start? Or would you rather pick something else entirely?

That's a good idea. It's easiest to learn from a suitable teacher.

[ the only downside being that humans have imperfect memories—like missing pages and faded ink. ]

Well, learning aside, it might be fun to just read for leisure.
