I can't say it's a bad strategy, but I hate that this stupid game is forcing us to think that way. Taking people's lives shouldn't be a strategy in the first place.

It might have been. We were all complicit in Rin's death, even though Matsui and Buzen did their best to help.
Killing me would have done nothing, but erasing Buzen is the best chance to get rid of all of us.
